Max King will be unavailable for selection this week, with the Tribunal tonight upholding the Match Review Officer’s single game ban.

King’s collision with Collingwood’s Finlay Macrae was deemed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, with the club unable to reduce 'medium impact' to 'low impact' or the conduct from 'careless' to 'accidental'.

“While we’re disappointed to not have Max’s sanction downgraded, we respect the decision of the Tribunal and accept its findings,” Executive General Manager of Football David Misson said.

“We understand the importance placed on protecting the heads of players.

“We have been without Max before and will now look to the depth in our list to fill his place this week.”

King said he accepted the Tribunal’s decision.

“This is a disappointing situation, but I understand the reasoning behind the decision and will respectfully sit out this week.”

King will now miss this week’s Round 3 game against Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
