The second draftee from the Saints’ 2024 AFL draft class is set to debut, with Hugh Boxshall to face Fremantle this Friday night at Marvel Stadium.

St Kilda live-traded up the draft order to secure the 188cm West Australian, who took no time to demonstrate his readiness for senior footy with a 15-disposal, two-goal performance during the AAMI Community Series game. More recently Boxshall has averaged 23.8 disposals in his four VFL games to date.

“Hugh has been an exciting addition to the midfield mix since his arrival at the club,” EGM of Football David Misson said.

“We’ve loved seeing him excel over summer and reap the rewards of his hard work in the VFL. We can’t wait to watch him take his opportunity with both hands this Friday night, as we welcome the Boxshall family over from the west.”

The 18-year-old was a key part of Claremont Colts' 2024 WAFL premiership win, before going on to dominate at the WA combine last year with top-five finishes in the 2km time trial, agility test and standing vertical jump.

Boxshall will become the Saints’ sixth debutant for 2025, following Harry Boyd, Liam O’Connell, Max Hall, Isaac Keeler and Tobie Travaglia.
