The St Kilda Football Club is delighted to announce that former Saints player Phil Stevens has accepted a role as Executive Officer of X-Saints Players and Officials.

Stevens, 61, played 41 games for the Saints between 1976-79 following a successful career with Geelong spanning eight seasons.

‘X-Saints’ is a new Club initiative to better recognise the contribution of former St Kilda Football Club players and officials.

As the former General Manager of the Victorian Amateur Football Association (1989-2004), the popular Stevens is the perfect person to drive this initiative.

St Kilda Chief Executive Officer Michael Nettlefold understands first-hand the significance of this program and wants to better acknowledge those that have helped build the Club since its inception in 1873.

“The St Kilda Football Club has a rich history and a proud tradition,” said Nettlefold who himself played 43 games for the Saints.

“For almost 140 years, the Saints have been represented by some of the games’ best players and officials in the sport.”

“Not all have been champions and the aim of the X-Saints initiative is to better recognise all players and officials for their contribution to the St Kilda Football Club,” concluded Nettlefold.

Through Phil Stevens, the St Kilda Football Club will reconnect with former players and officials via a series of functions and activities.

Phil will be working out of the Club’s Headquarters at the Linen House Centre Frankston and would like to make contact with all former Saints players and officials whom the Club doesn’t have current details for.
