More than 1,500 Saints supporters turned out in perfect 30-degree weather to watch St Kilda’s annual intra-club match at Linen House Centre on Saturday morning.

St Kilda General Manager of Membership, Fan Development and Community said it was the perfect day for the club to showcase this season’s talent.

“It was perfect weather on a perfect day, it was very relaxed and everyone seemed like they had a great time,” Lisa Laing said.

“The giveaways were a real hit with the kids and we had a lot membership enquiries with people signing up, and we had a lot of positive feedback from members as well.”

Saints favourite Stephen Milne put on a good show for spectators, bagging four goals over the two-hour long match and drawing a lot of noise from the crowd.

New recruits and young guns were also on display for the St Kilda faithful.

“This event is so important, especially for the Frankston and Bayside communities, to be able to come down and watch us train in their own backyard.  Being a Saturday morning it also enabled a lot of people to come down and enjoy it.”

“Let’s just hope the weather is just as good for Family Day by the bay next month!”

Around 4,000 fans are expected to attend ‘Family Day by the bay’ on the Frankston Foreshore on March 10.
