A hamstring injury will sideline forward Beau Maister for a significant period of time

ST KILDA forward Beau Maister will miss several weeks following the 'bye' weekend with a hamstring injury.

Scans revealed that the 27-year-old has sustained damage to the lateral hamstring tendon behind his left knee. He underwent surgery on Thursday.

Maister is likely to miss between 6-8 weeks.
