FOUR of St Kilda's exciting young players have signed two-year contract extensions with the club.

Dylan Roberton, Jack Newnes, Jimmy Webster and Seb Ross have all put pen to paper, committing to the Saints until the end of the 2015 season.

All four have been regular players in the St Kilda senior team this season.

"It is always good to get a group of young players come through and build the future of the club together. They are all a clear part of the direction the club is taking," St Kilda General Manager - Player List & Legal Affairs Ameet Bains said.

Ross, Newnes and Webster all joined the Saints in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, along with Daniel Markworth who signed a contract extension earlier this season.

"Four of our draftees from the 2011 draft have re-signed. It is positive that these guys are playing senior football and are prepared to commit to the future of the club," Bains said.

Roberton has played every game since arriving at the Saints as a free agent at the end of 2012.

Originally drafted by Fremantle with pick 49 at the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, Roberton played 37 games in three seasons for the Dockers before he returned to his native Victoria at the end of 2012.

He played his 50th game in last week's match against Richmond.

"Being back home has made everything easier, it's made footy easier and I'm loving everything in life a bit more," Roberton told saints.com.au after signing the contract.

"All the younger guys are really close and we're going to be the future. It's good to have them stay with me. Hopefully we can do some good things together."

Ross was the Saints' first draft pick in 2011 at no. 25 and made his AFL debut in last year's round 22 win over Greater Western Sydney.

He has played a further nine games this season, with his best game coming with a 22-possession performance against the Western Bulldogs in round nine.

"I think we've got a really good core group of young players at the club and I think they are all pretty excited about the future that we can build," Ross said.

"I'm growing in confidence week in, week out and the older boys really helped me with that. Joey Montagna and Nick Dal Santo have been outstanding in the way they have helped me learn."

Tasmanian-born Webster made his debut in the round seven clash with Carlton and has kept his spot in the team ever since.

The classy left-footer arrived at the club via pick 42 at the 2011 NAB AFL Draft and has played seven senior games.

"I couldn't be any happier. It has been a massive step (going from VFL to AFL). I played VFL last year and then a few games this year. I was lucky enough to get my opportunity five or six weeks ago and I've played ever since," Webster said.

"We're a close group and there is a pretty good base. Hopefully we can all stay together and be the future of the club."

Newnes has played 18 games since debuting in round two last year as a half-back/midfield option.

He was taken with pick 37 in the 2011 draft via TAC Cup team the Northern Knights.

In just his second year at St Kilda, Newnes was included in the Emerging Leaders group.

"It is more a development thing - there is myself, Seb Ross, Sam Dunell, Tom Curren and Arryn Siposs. We went through a few programs to develop ourselves as leaders and hopefully in the next few years we can step up and lead the group," Newnes said.

"I've enjoyed my year and a half here. I've had a great time and it has been awesome so for me it was easy and we just had to get it all sorted."
