Solider On
The St Kilda Football Club has formed a new charity partnership with Solider On.
Soldier On is about Australians coming together to show their support for our physically and psychologically wounded; we will always have their backs. They work to enhance recovery, inspire communities and empower Australia’s wounded servicemen and women, giving those who have served our country the dignity they deserve and the chance to do and be whatever they choose.
It is a partnership that the entire club – from the playing group to our staff and board – have embraced.
An important element of the partnership is to recognise a wounded ambassador at each game. Tonight’s ambassador is Nicholas Hodge
Nicholas Hodge served with the Army, deploying to East Timor and the Solomon Islands between 1999 and 2003. He then joined the AFP and deployed a further 4 times to the Solomon Islands as part of his work with the Police.
Following his service, Nick was diagnosed with PTSD and has suffered from depression, anxiety and some other psychological effects of war, mainly the result of his operational service as an Infantry Soldier to East Timor 1999 – 2000.
Please take the time to welcome Nicholas to the game and acknowledge his contribution to the safety of our nation.
