ST KILDA pair Blake Acres and Jarryn Geary are the latest Saints to be ruled out for the season, with Acres aggravating his right quad late last week and Geary injuring his calf. 

Acres, who was drafted with pick No.19 and made his AFL debut in the game Geary badly hurt his elbow, played three senior matches this year and looked to be an impressive athlete when fit.

Prior to Saturday’s clash against Werribee in the VFL, Geary hadn’t played any footy since round seven and collected eight touches in the first term for Sandringham.

However late in the second quarter he landed awkwardly from a marking contest and strained his calf, ruling him out for the final fortnight of the 2014 season.

“It’s very frustrating not only for the club, but also for Jarryn himself,” Club Physio Paul Trainor told SAINTS.com.au.

Geary has played 100 AFL games for St Kilda since debuting in 2008 and recently signed a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2016. 

In other injury news, Trainor confirmed that Tom Hickey will have surgery on his injured knee in London this week before returning to Australia, while Jack Billings has begun running again following his hamstring strain against the Bulldogs.
