Sam Fisher was officially honoured with Life Membership of the St Kilda Football Club on Friday night.

Debuting in 2004, the defender has played 198 games in Saints colours over his ten years’ service.

Fisher was granted life membership at the last AGM however the award was officially presented by President Peter Summers on Friday night at the club’s 2014 Trevor Barker Award.

A two-time winner of the Best and Fairest award, the 32-year-old is also an All-Australian and played an important role in the back-to-back Grand Final appearances in 2009 and 2010.

“Life Membership is an honour bestowed on the servants of the club who have shown dedication over an extensive period of time,” Peter Summers said.

“It is the highest and most recognised honour that an individual can receive for their service to the club, and it is also a significant sign of thanks from the club to that individual.”

Life Membership is awarded to players who have been at the club for 10 years and played over 175 games, regular volunteers who have shown more than 20 years of service, or employees that have given more than 15 years to the club.

Media personality Bruce Eva was awarded Life Membership on Friday along with former Halo President Lyn Gandolfo, former staff member Len Burns and Bruce Duperouzal, a former captain of the club.

Mr Summers also announced Geoff Caudwell as the winner of the John Moran Loyalty Award, who is given to a volunteer who has demonstrated selfless service to the club.
