DANIEL McKenzie will have to pass a variety tests on Thursday to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s game against Hawthorn.

The 18-year-old was concussed during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over Brisbane, and although he passed a test on Tuesday, he will undergo further examinations later in the week.

“Daniel has done his preliminary tests with the doctors,” Head Physiotherapist Andrew Wallis told SAINTS.com.au.

“He will need to pass a fitness test on Thursday and pass all of his other tests to be available for selection.”

UPDATED: Injury list

McKenzie has played five senior games since debuting against Essendon in round five, impressing as an elusive wingman with a penetrating left foot.

In the VFL, Paddy McCartin was also concussed and will not play any football this weekend.

“He’s still showing a few symptoms,” Wallis said.

“But we expect him back next week.”

Ahmed Saad was a late withdrawal on Saturday with a minor heel injury and will be tested ahead of Sandringham’s trip to Ballarat this weekend.

Meanwhile, Daniel Markworth and Arryn Siposs are potentially both back next week from shoulder injuries.

The duo have been training strongly according to Wallis, but still need to tick a number of boxes if they are to play football before the bye.

“As with all of these shoulder injuries they will need to pass fitness tests that involve tackling,” Wallis said.

“They have stepped up this week and they will have to do another full week of tackling next week. If they pass that then they will be available for selection.

In some good news, Luke Dunstan has recovered well following a head clash with teammate Blake Acres.

The tough-nut played on and will be available to take on Hawthorn this Sunday.

“There was some speculation on Luke Dunstan. He put his tooth through his lip and there was a lot of blood… but he is not too bad.”
