JARRYN Geary may not be the flashiest player, but his team-first approach was recognised tonight with the 27-year-old winning the Robert Harvey best clubman award.

Geary played 20 games in 2015 and has played a total of 120 since debuting in 2008.

In Nick Riewoldt’s absence, he skippered the team against Carlton in round four, and then again in round 18 versus Port Adelaide.

Senior coach Alan Richardson was glowing in his praise for the hard-nose  and versatile defender.

“Jarryn is one of the most respected members of our team, both on and off the field,” Richardson told SAINTS.com.au.

“He sets elite standards with his preparation and plays a ruthless never give in style of game. He thoroughly deserves this accolade.”

Geary was drafted with pick no.58 in the 2007 Rookie Draft. He averaged a career-high 19.4 disposals per outing this year.

The Robert Harvey Best Clubman award is awarded to a player who underpins the club’s values both on and off the field. This player has displayed a willingness to help out team mates and the greater community by his willingness to put the club first and do the right thing at all times.
