It was a really positive year for us all in all. Off the field we did a fair bit of work, trying to engage more with fans and really make everyone feel part of the club. We’ve had some positive feedback on that.
The club is going in the right direction on the field. Although we are not there yet, and we definitely want to win more games, we’re confident in the path that we’re on.
We now know anything is possible. Internally we didn’t put a ceiling on where we could get to this year. We had a feeling that we could have a really good crack and if we did that we’d be competitive. We saw that for most of our games.
The mind training played a really important role. There were patches in 2014 where we just gave up and teams ran over the top of us. This year, even when we were a bit down early, we often got ourselves back up and the Bulldogs game was a great example of this. We were down and almost out but kept on fighting and ended up getting the win.
Richo is coaching us really well. He has got his message across to all the players and we’re all really aware of the direction we’re heading. We all play for him and that’s also very important.
We’ll see a lot of improvement next year if we keep going the way we’re going. It was a solid step forward this season but if we knuckle down who knows how many wins we could have.
My season was a bit up and down. I was pleased to not have as many injuries as I’ve had in the past, although obviously I would have liked to play more AFL games than I did. The circumstance was that the defensive unit was pretty stable all year which made it hard for me to break into the side. In general I was pretty happy with my development this year.
I have a few things to work on. My skills need some work and I’ll always be looking to get fitter. I’ll focus hard this pre-season to improve. I put a lot of time into my footy this year and I plan to put in even more hours ahead of 2016.
I had finger surgery at the end of the season but it’s fine now and I’ll be right for the start of pre-season training.
I’ve just moved into a new house in Cheltenham with my girlfriend Paris. We have a couple of dogs too which is great.
