St Kilda returns to the Friday night stage for the first time since Round 3, 2015 this Friday night when they face premiership fancies Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium.
After being a mainstay on the Friday night scene during the Grand Final era between 2009 and 2010, the Saints didn’t feature in the marquee slot once last year and only did so on one occasion in 2015 and twice in 2014.
But after an impressive 2016 campaign, where the Saints banked their first winning season (12 wins) since 2012, the club has been rewarded with four games on a Friday night in 2017.
While the Giants have won their last five games and have only lost one game so far this season, St Kilda produced their best performance for 2017 in Tasmania last weekend, easily accounting for Hawthorn by 75-points to bring their interstate drought to an end.
After this Friday night’s prime time clash at Docklands, St Kilda will feature in back-to-back games after the Round 11 bye against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval and then North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
