Emerging star Jack Billings is one of five players in Round 8 to receive the maximum amount of votes from the coaches following his career-best performance against Carlton on Saturday.

St Kilda Coach Alan Richardson and his Carlton counterpart Brendon Bolton awarded Billings 10 votes after he booted five goals from 30 disposals and 12 marks at Etihad Stadium, to go with 12 score involvements and 568 metres gained in his 50th game.

Greater Western Sydney midfielder Josh Kelly also received 10 votes, along with Sydney captain Josh Kennedy, Fremantle midfielder-forward Michael Walters and Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney.

Saints midfielder Seb Ross was recognised for his continued excellence, earning seven votes after he gathered 31 disposals – his fifth 30+ haul in a row – 10 contested possessions, six marks, six clearances and two goals.

Young Carlton inside midfielder Patrick Cripps also earned seven votes from Richardson and Bolton. The 22-year-old was the Blues best player with 30 possessions (20 contested), eight clearances, six inside 50s and two goals.

Three-time Trevor Barker Award winner Jack Steven was rewarded for his stellar form, this time receiving four votes for his 32-possession (14 contested), nine-clearance and seven-inside 50s haul.

After eight rounds of 2017, West Coast half-back Elliot Yeo (43 votes) leads the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award by one vote ahead of Adelaide midfielder Rory Sloane. Young Melbourne onballer Clayton Oliver is in third place on 36 votes.
