Emerging young gun Blake Acres has signalled his commitment to St Kilda, inking a two-year contract extension
The West Australian native, who turns 22 next month, will remain in red, white and black until at least the end of 2020.
The versatile midfielder played 18 games this season, averaging just over 20 disposals while also spending time as a mobile forward.
Acres said he was thrilled to be committed for three seasons and determined to help the Saints climb the ladder.
“It was a really simple decision for me,” Acres said.
“I’m excited by the direction this club and playing group is heading.
“We are a tight-knit group and we’re looking forward to getting back to work and making our mark next season.”
Chief Operating Officer Ameet Bains said Acres took another step in his development this season.
“We saw Blake’s confidence as a player improve this year as he found more consistency with his football,” Bains said.
“His size and athleticism really sets him apart as a midfielder and we saw him go forward on occasions and be really dangerous.
“With just 44 games under his belt, we look forward to seeing Blake develop further and to him elevating his game to another level in the coming years.”
