St Kilda today announced the club’s final list change ahead of the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, with rookie Nick O’Kearney informed he has not been offered a new contract.
Despite strong form at VFL level with Sandringham, the midfielder failed to break into the senior line-up in his two years at the Linen House Centre.
Senior coach Alan Richardson said O’Kearney had left no stone unturned in his quest to play AFL football.
“Nick’s attitude has been exemplary in his time at the Saints,” Richardson said.
“He’s worked incredibly hard on his game and was very consistent for Sandringham.
“Unfortunately he was unable to force his way into the midfield group at AFL level.
“Nick is a great young man and we wish him all the best for the future.”
St Kilda has now finalised its playing list ahead of the AFL Draft where it holds picks 7, 8, 34 and 45.
