Another pre-season and another top-billing at the Saints' time-trial – his latest time in under 10 minutes – shouldn't come as a surprise for Ed Phillips.
Now, the time-trial king is looking to add to his 11-game tally and entrench himself in the Saints' on-ball brigade.
Phillips has teetered on the edge of senior selection several times this season, being named as an emergency in Round 4 against Richmond.
In the interim, the endurance machine has been a reliable force in the Saints' scratch matches.
Reduced playing numbers at reserves level have taken out his traditional wing position, seeing Phillips move inside to great effect to feature alongside Ryan Byrnes and Jack Bytel.
Phillips was brought into the senior side for Rounds 10 and 11 as a late replacement for Jarryn Geary and Paddy Ryder respectively, booting back-to-back goals against the Cats for the first time in his career.
Phillips was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 56 in the 2016 National Draft.
