It was already known that Rowan Marshall was fast becoming one of the premier ruckmen of the competition, and last year certainly validated it.

Injury-free and starring in the ruck solo as opposed to the partnership of he and Paddy Ryder in seasons past, Marshall was a sensation in the Saints’ milestone year to receive maiden selection in the All-Australian squad and finish third at the Trevor Barker Award as fitting recognition.

Averaging 27 hit-outs, 20 disposals and five clearances per game, the ‘Prospect’ was the fulcrum in St Kilda’s surge towards September with a series of tide-turning and terrific performances that were vital to his side.

Highly regarded for his clearance skills and ability to cover the ground despite his lumbering frame, Marshall is eager to surpass the heights he has already reached as he sees out his five-year contract at RSEA Park.
