Nick Riewoldt has paid permanent tribute to his friend and fellow former Saints captain, Danny Frawley, purchasing plaques for the whole Riewoldt family in the new Danny Frawley Centre grandstand at RSEA Park.
As part of the soon-to-be-completed Danny Frawley Centre Grandstand, supporters have been given the chance to purchase a personally engraved plaque on one of the 1000 seats overlooking the hallowed turf.
“To have our names on the seats, I know the boys [his sons] are really excited about it, but this is really about cementing Spud’s legacy.
“The Danny Frawley Centre and all the work the Frawley family are doing on that in conjunction with the football club, that’s what this is about and having your name on a seat is a fun little bonus.”
Nick, his wife Cath, and sons James, Will and Teddy, are just a few of the supporters who have already purchased personally engraved plaques in the Danny Frawley Centre grandstand.
The grandstand forms part of the Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing, which is set to open to the public in the coming months.
The Danny Frawley Centre will incorporate a 25m lap pool, hydrotherapy pool and high tech recovery centre, as well as a community gym, allied health services and a wellbeing centre housing a host of psychologists, researchers and program operators.
Taking in the view from the new grandstand, Riewoldt reflected on the most recent developments at RSEA Park, while also encouraging others to join him in the stands.
“To come back after being away for a few months and see the stand completed and the new oval surface, this is just such an incredible facility now,” Riewoldt said.
“To anyone thinking about purchasing a seat, there are numerous benefits. One is obviously your own personal legacy at the Saints, and these days I’m probably living that more through my kids, but also to embrace one of our club legends in Spud.
“We stick together pretty well, Saints people, so that was my motivation.”
Note: Purchasing a seat in the Danny Frawley Centre this does not provide ownership of the seat. Seat owners will be subject to standard ticketing arrangements for games at RSEA Park, Moorabbin.
