St Kilda will welcome two debutants to the line-up ahead of tomorrow night’s blockbuster opener against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.
SANFL recruit Jack Hayes and PURA Next Generation Academy graduate Mitch Owens will both debut on the prime-time stage, with the pair given the nod at senior level despite their limited time at RSEA Park.
Hayes was officially signed as a Saint last fortnight after being invited to train with the club just days before Christmas, while Owens was brought in with pick No. 33 at last year’s National Draft.
Jade Gresham and Ben Paton have also been named after respective injuries curtailed their 2021 seasons, while Rowan Marshall and Max King will also feature after finishing last year on the sidelines.
First-round draft pick Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, as well as pre-season signings Jarrod Lienert and Tom Campbell join Ben Long as emergencies for Friday night.
Veteran ruckman Paddy Ryder is expected to make his senior return by next week, while Jack Billings (hamstring) and Hunter Clark (shoulder) will miss at least another month of football.
St Kilda will open its 2022 season under Friday night lights against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium, with the opening bounce pencilled in for 7:50pm.
