The Southern Saints have secured their third straight victory with a staggering display of class in its 18-point win over the Western Bulldogs at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The Saints outplayed the visitors throughout Saturday’s contest, securing an early run to pave the way for a 5.7 (37) to 3.1 (19) win in the second half.

Hannah Stuart (26 disposals, four tackles, eight clearances) continued her improved form, while duo Gabriela De Angelis (20 disposals, four tackles, two goals) and Tayla Kearns (17 disposals, 10 tackles, two goals) proved far too dangerous for the Bulldogs’ defence.

The Saints enjoyed periods of midfield dominance and a presence in the forward-50 that threatened the scoreboard, as their work rate continued to astound their opponents.

Bulldogs midfielder Mary Sandral hit the scoreboard early, but it was a two-goal burst from the Saints in the second term that extended the margin to 16-points – a margin the visitors couldn’t reign in.

The Saints’ backline held strong, forcing turnovers that kept the Bulldogs to only one goal in the first half, despite multiple entries inside-50, while Sarah Black (37 hit-outs, four tackles) continued her excellent form in the ruck to ensure the Saints had first use at stoppage.

The Southern Saints will host Carlton at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday May 15, with the match beginning at 11am.
