St Kilda Football Club has elevated its ruck stocks with the signing of Erin McKinnon following a trade with GWS this evening.
The Saints received McKinnon and pick No. 54 from the Giants in exchange for pick No. 37.
A commanding ruck coming in at 189cm, McKinnon brings six years of experience at the elite level, along with much-needed height to the club’s ranks.
The 23-year-old played 41 games for GWS since making her debut in its inaugural AFLW match in 2017, earning All-Australian honours the following season.
“We’re very happy to welcome Erin as a Saint,” Head of AFLW Tessie McManus said.
“She also has the ability to play in the forward line, which is something we will look to leverage for the upcoming season.
“Erin has enormous potential to become an important player for us now and well into the future, and we look forward to her development while in red, white and black.”
St Kilda completed the first deal of this year’s AFLW Sign & Trade period earlier this week, signing All-Australian and Best & Fairest Nicola Stevens in exchange for its first-round priority selection (pick No. 28 overall).
