WHEN St Kilda fans reflect on Adam Schneider’s career, they will reminisce about his silky skills in the forward line, the five grand finals he played in (including one premiership) and his terrific leadership and guidance towards the end of his 228 game career.
But it is not just the on-field accolades that have won legions of fans for the ‘Schneiderman’.
In 2013, while Schneider was battling injury, he approached St Kilda’s Senior Video Producer Andrew Knights about creating a show that would ultimately re-define him as more than a footballer.
"A fan said I should do something on the website, so I came up with the name Schneiderman and Andrew came up with 'web of truth," Schneider told SAINTS.com.au.
"I had never really done much media before. It was good to get an insight on the players and get a bit of dirt on them. I wanted to embarrass them as much as I could.
"In the last six months of my career, nobody asked me how I was going or how my footy was going, all they wanted to know was who I was interviewing on the next episode... I can't believe I got everyone to sing!"

In today’s highly regulated media industry, productions like Schneiderman, where players have an outlet to show their true personalities, are few and far between.
To be caught in Schneiderman’s web of truth was not only daunting, it was often hilarious. Over the three seasons, Schneider filmed 30 episodes of Schneiderman, including three ‘best-ofs’ and a Best and Fairest special.
The show quickly rose to prominence with snippets often shown on commercial television shows AFL 360, Game Day and The Footy Show.
One of the key ingredients, according to Knights, was the fan element which asked Saints supporters to not only choose the next guest, but also compile questions for Schneider to ask them.
“The fans were a huge part of the show and judging by the number of views we received on the website, they couldn’t get enough of it,” said Knights, who Schneider affectionately nicknamed ‘Upside down head’ or ‘Upside’ because of his distinguished beard and bald head.
“We would receive hundreds of comments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with questions for Schneiderman’s guests. At the end of each episode, the player would always have to sing a song which was one of the main attractions.”
The man responsible for Schneiderman the production worked tirelessly behind the scenes to edit episodes and provide props for Schneider to utilise while filming the show.
“I’ve loved working with Schneids,” Knights said.
“I’d often receive a text from him late at night or on his day off saying ‘why don’t we try this.’ He was full of ideas.”
As for his favourite Schneiderman moment, Knights can’t go past the time Schneider tried to match the 203cm Jason Holmes in a slam dunking competition.
“There were so many great moments, such as Lenny Hayes rapping Warren G and Billy Longer explaining his live action role play. But when Schneids tried to dunk at the end of Jason Holmes episode I lost it,” he said.
“It was hilarious.”
