The red, white and black will descend on the MCG in Round 3, 2023, with the club today announcing it will host its milestone 150th anniversary game against Essendon on Saturday 1 April.

The game will occupy the blockbuster Saturday night timeslot, with a scheduled 7.25pm bounce. It will be broadcast on Channel 7 and also available on FOX Footy and Kayo.

Since its official formation on 2 April 1873, the spirit of the Saints has endured, and in 2023 all of those who have played a role in creating the history of the club will be invited to celebrate.

“In our 150th year, we’re looking forward to celebrating the contributions of everyone, not only our players, but all those who have helped make this club what it is today,” Chief Executive Officer Simon Lethlean said.

“Over the past century and a half, we have fielded some of the greatest and most iconic players to ever take the field and have created a community of dedicated and unwavering fans who make the club a truly special place.

"While we would have loved to deliver more premiership success for our fans, we hope that next year we can honour and celebrate the loyalty that has helped us get to this milestone.

“This celebratory game in Round 3 will be an opportunity for everyone, whether you’ve been a fan for one year or fifty years, to come together, celebrate and cheer on the tri-colours in the passionate manner Saints fans are known for.”

In a nod to the past, St Kilda will don a commemorative guernsey in Round 3, the design of which will be unveiled in the new year. Limited-edition 150 year supporter merchandise and apparel will also be available.

“2023 is a chance for us to both honour our past while embracing our future,” Lethlean said.

“There will be plenty of exciting ways to do so throughout the year, with more announcements to come over the next few months, but getting this game in the diary is the perfect way to begin the celebrations.”

To secure your place at the Saints’ 150th anniversary game, the club has launched two new membership offerings – The Five Game Blockbuster and the 150 Game Pass. Existing members will have this home game included as part of the usual package entitlements at no additional cost.
