St Kilda’s newest recruits have officially received their playing numbers for Season 2023, while two second-year Saints have traded in their previous threads for lower digits.
First-round draftee Mattaes Phillipou will inherit the No. 25 – the number he wore while playing for Woodville-West Torrens – in his debut season, with defender James Van Es a few doors down in the No. 31.
Olli Hotton, Isaac Keeler and Angus McLennan will all be lockermates in the No. 39, 40 and 41 respectively, while free agent selection Zaine Cordy has moved into the No. 21. Cordy previously wore the No. 12 across his eight seasons at the Western Bulldogs.
Across the locker room, Jack Hayes has traded in the No. 47 for the No. 18, last worn by fellow ruckman Paddy Ryder, leaving Mitch Owens to take up the No. 10 after spending his first year in the No. 24.
Danny Frawley’s distinguished No. 2 will remain vacant for at least another season, while former captain Jarryn Geary’s No. 14 and Owens’ vacant No. 24 have no owners for Season 2023 as yet.
