The Saints are hopeful Jimmy Webster and Jack Bytel will makes themselves available this week, as the club heads into its 150th anniversary game on Saturday night.
The pair, who are recovering from hand and knee injuries respectively, will need to pass medical assessments to be eligible for selection.
“There are a few boxes Jimmy and Jack need to tick this week, but we’re hopeful they’ll be available,” Acting GM of Football David Misson said.
While Webster and Bytel will look to graduate the injury list, Jack Steele is the most recent addition to the Saints’ rehab group after breaking his collarbone on the weekend.
“Jack underwent surgery yesterday and we’re looking at about four weeks for his return,” Misson said.
“Jack’s the ultimate professional and will get back as soon as possible.”
Fellow leader Tim Membrey remains around a month away, while other injured players including Max King, Nick Coffield and Jack Billings continue to make progress in their recovery.
