St Kilda could all but lock in a finals spot with a win on Saturday night when they host the Cats at Marvel Stadium.
Catch up on all the latest ahead of the blockbuster clash.
Finals-like feel
With top eight positions as hot as they've ever been, the Saints and Cats will both be approaching Saturday night as a must-win fixture.
But Ross won't let that distract his troops, focussing firmly on the task at hand.
Ross says... "We prepare every week like it’s a final…we understand what’s at stake and the formula’s really clear, win four points over the next two games and we play finals. But we’ve got to focus on training well, meeting well and getting to the line fit and healthy to go again."
Facing the reigning premiers
Despite the Cats' up-and-down season, Ross is wary of the reigning premiers clicking into gear at the pointy end of the campaign.
Geelong enter Saturday night off the back of a thrilling clash with ladder-leaders Collingwood and will be equally desperate to secure a vital four points.
Ross says... "We know they’re a formidable opponent – reigning premier with their backs to the wall. I went along last week and watched a really good game of footy against Collingwood. We’re up for the challenge, no doubt, and we know what to expect."
Max and Tim's instant impact
Max King and Tim Membrey joined forces for the first time this year in the Saints' win over the Tigers, and the results were immediate.
King kicked an equal career-high six goals with his experienced sparring partner back by his side in a combination Ross is happy to have back at his disposal.
Ross says... "As a combination, they know each other well. We gave them really good supply and they were able to take advantage of that. I know Max enjoyed playing with Tim, so that was important."
Stopping Jezza
Jeremy Cameron will be exhibit A on St Kilda's watchlist for Round 23.
The star cat was back to his best last week with a scintillating seven-goal performance against the Pies, but Ross is confident his team defence is up for the challenge.
Ross says... "You can blink and he (Cameron) can be anywhere. He’s a very special player. Callum Wilkie will have him at times, Josh Battle will have him, Nasiah might have him at times and Stocker, depending on where he plays. But if we make it about one player, we’ll be in trouble."
