St Kilda’s coaching department has been further strengthened for the future, with Assistant Coach (Backline) Corey Enright and Head of Development and Learning Damian Carroll recommitting to the club for another two seasons.

The pair of re-signings will see the respected duo continue their impact in club colours until at least the end of 2026, playing pivotal roles under the leadership of senior coach Ross Lyon.

Since arriving at RSEA Park in 2022 and taking charge of the backline brigade, Enright has overseen the evolution of the club’s defensive end into one of the most disciplined and effective units across the competition.

Enright has been instrumental in the Saints’ advancement from both a team and individual perspective during his tenure, notably playing an important hand in the rise of two-time All-Australian and Best & Fairest Jack Sinclair, the successful redeployment of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to half-back and continued impact of vice-captain Callum Wilkie.

St Kilda was additionally ranked as the No. 1 defence in 2023 in terms of points scored against, conceding an average of 71.6 points per game largely due to six-time All-Australian’s influence and tutelage.

Spud's Game on the big stage

Meanwhile, Carroll’s work in St Kilda’s development space has been critical in the emergence of the club’s young talent in recent seasons.

Carroll’s appointment in 2021 has since produced a leading football education program for the Saints’ first-to-fourth-year players, accelerating the development of the club’s youth headlined by Mitch Owens, Marcus Windhager and Wanganeen-Milera.

“We’re thrilled to have Corey and Damian sign on for another two seasons,” EGM of Football David Misson said.

“Corey’s standing in the game is one that is universally respected, especially with last year’s induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and is someone we are incredibly fortunate to have at the club.

Throughout his short time at St Kilda, we have immensely benefitted from his experience and expertise, both of which will hold our backline in good stead now and into the future.

“With such a young list, having a coach of Damian’s calibre and character is pivotal in seeing our youth maximise their potential and ultimately develop into important players for the future.

“His natural affinity for teaching and passion to help players be the best they can be - coupled with the admiration he has among the playing group - speaks volumes.

“Alongside development coaches Jake Batchelor and Lenny Hayes, Damian has created a program which we are confident will unearth more young talent to drive us forward.”
