CLEVER St Kilda forward Adam Schneider has been cited by the Match Review Panel for striking Essendon player Mark Baguley.
Schneider has been offered a two-match ban for the incident that took place late in the second quarter of Saturday night's win over the Bombers.
The 29-year-old will escape with a one-week penalty if he elects to lodge an early guilty plea. Alternatively, he can challenge the verdict and risk a harsher penalty.
Schneider has an existing poor record with 93.75 carry over points, which bumped up the sanction up from 125 demerit points (one match) to 218.75 points (two matches).
The incident was assessed as a level two striking offence (125 demerit points), intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point).
An early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent down to 164.06 demerit points (one match).
The left-footer was an integral player in his first AFL game for the season on Saturday night, collecting 22 disposals, laying four tackles and pumping the ball inside 50 on four occasions. He also booted two goals in the 16-point victory.
St Kilda is expected to announce whether Schneider will accept or challenge the charge on Tuesday morning.
