Dynamic small forward Lance Collard will debut this Saturday night against Geelong, joining fellow first-round draftee Darcy Wilson in making a maiden appearance in red, white and black.
Collard has caught the eyes of many during his brief time at RSEA Park, impressing through his pace, pressure and craft in front of goal to earn a Round 1 berth.
The 18-year-old from Subiaco was told the news by fellow forward Tim Membrey this afternoon in an impromptu team meeting post-training, with Bradley Hill and Liam Henry among the first to flock to the youngster.
Collard, who comes from the Noongar/Yamatji mob, will be the 34th Indigenous St Kilda player to represent the club at senior level, joining current Indigenous players Hill, Henry, Marcus Windhager, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Isaac Keeler.
The lively talent with a large bag of tricks was a member of West Coast’s Next Generation Academy coming through the ranks, however ended up calling St Kilda home as the club swooped in at pick No. 28 to claim the first-round draftee.
St Kilda's final team for Round 1 will be announced this evening at 6:20pm.
