Brad Crouch
38 disposals, four tackles, five total clearances
Great game for Brad. He won the ball for us in tight, had his hop back, had his speed and was a really good teammate. Celebrated efforts all day, looked good out there.
Hunter Clark
25 disposals, six tackles, six total clearances
Hunter’s improving every week and had his best game since coming back from injury. Winning the ball on the ground and hitting the scoreboard with three shots on goal was great to see as an inside mid. He’s been really clean for us.
Ryan Byrnes
20 disposals, 11 kicks, two tackles
Ryan got stuck out on the wing a little bit in terms of possessions, but he brought his weapon in his running, didn’t stop all game. His attitude was great, as it always is. It was good to see him get a bit of inside-mid time at the end of the game.
Isaac Keeler
14 disposals, nine kicks, two tackles
Not as many opportunities for Isaac to defend this week. He was a little bit reactive early in the contest, but after half-time ramped that up and got back to his psychical best. It was good to see the bounceback in the second half.
Zaine Cordy
One goal, 11 disposals, five marks
Zaine played his role, won all his aerial contests, snuck forward for a goal and was a really good leader out there.
Angus Hastie
21 disposals, 14 kicks, two total clearances
He played as a half-back this week with some really good plays to take us forward on attack, which we’ll look to continue to do. A couple of decisions that we’ll tidy up, adjusting defensive work as a half-back compared to a winger, but it was good to have him and his drive back this week.
Matthew Allison
Five goals, 11 disposals, four tackles
He kicked a bag and did it the right way, competing strongly in the air. He played a bit deeper this week and showcased what he’s capable of.
Hugo Garcia
29 disposals, 11 tackles, eight total clearances
Probably the most influential player on the ground alongside Max Heath. His hunt, chase and intensity around the ball were outstanding. He had nine inside 50s and five score assists and was really strong in that sense as well.
Tom Campbell
33 hitouts, 14 disposals, one goal
Brilliant game by Tom. He had a little bit more forward time than normal, ending with three shots at goal, and played like a big man. His follow-up around contests was really important for us, contributing to our strong contested possession game.
Olli Hotton
21 disposals, seven inside-50’s, three total clearances
Olli played as a high half-forward, with a little bit of licence to go into the stoppage or stay ahead which was a great spot for him. He competed well and was able to open up the tank and equalise forward. He had two shots at goal and 21 touches, which is a good balance, seven inside 50s and some good score assists as well.
Angus McLennan
15 disposals, four tackles, eight intercept possessions
It was a very good game by Angus. He barely lost a contest and his defensive basics are very strong. He didn’t have to do too much defensive running which is a sign of our good team defence, but six out of eight of his intercept possessions ended up inside 50. We’re getting good bang for buck from him, and he’s ready to play AFL when his opportunity comes.
Max Heath
10 hitouts, 24 disposals, two tackles
Max had a great game ahead of the ball and in the ruck also. His follow-up was impressive, his running improved and he competed strongly all day. If he had converted two simple set-shots, like he usually does, in the last quarter, it’s a really good game. I’m proud of his efforts.
Liam O’Connell
13 disposals, 11 kicks, four marks
He keeps improving every week. His toughness, reading of the play and cleanliness is great to see grow. He didn’t have heaps of the ball, but he just looked really exciting and damaging when he got it.
Jack Hayes
18 disposals, five tackles, six hitouts
He competed strongly, mainly as a key forward and got a little bit of ruck time. He had a really good play to bring the debutant into the game which didn’t connect but his team-first attitude of first gives is great to see, especially after not being in the AFL team this week. He had three shots at goal and gave 100 per cent effort all game. You always know what you’re going to get with Jack, which is why I love coaching him.
FOR THE ZEBRAS
Hugo Hall-Kahan
Three goals, 12 disposals, two total clearances
He had a different role as a forward this week, still playing high but less around the ball. He equalised inside 50 really strongly, which was his focus, and ended up with three goals to make the most of his opportunities.
Blake Watson
20 disposals, four total clearances, 12 kicks
Another tough game as an inside mid. He wins the ball on the ground, helps take us forward and when we feel like we’re under pressure, he doesn’t stuff around with the ball too much. We love what he brings to the team.
Max Benier
13 disposals, one tackle, three marks
He improved strongly from last week, putting key learnings into play. He was our highest intercept possession player on the ground (nine) which is a great result, a lot of those from contest. He’s strong, he’s powerful - nice progression from Max.
