Gold Coast: Casboult 5, Farrar 3, Tsitas, Rosas, Read
Zak Jones
29 disposals, three tackles, four clearances
A strong performance from Zak. He played half the game as an inside mid and the other on the wing, executing both roles diligently.
Lance Collard
Two goals, eight disposals, four tackles
Lance built himself into the game nicely kicking 2.1 as the high half-forward with four tackles (two inside-50). We saw him execute some good team-first actions and loved seeing him get around his teammates' wins. Good to have him back playing football.
Brad Crouch
27 disposals, six tackles, six clearances
Brad had a strong game playing as an inside mid for four quarters. He won the ball for us all day and worked well with the other inside mids to take the ball forward. He racked up the second-highest contested possessions and ran some good defensive patterns for us.
Ryan Byrnes
22 disposals, three clearances, two tackles
Ryan had three-and-a-half quarters on the wing until we needed some speed in the midfield. He got to work and really helped us changed the landscape of the game.
Zaine Cordy
18 disposals, three marks, two tackles
Zaine had a battle on his hands against Casboult where his contest worked improved as the game went on. Despite some slick ball movement from Gold Coast, he gave up smart shots and lead a young backline really well.
Mattaes Phillipou
20 disposals, eight tackles, five marks
Mattaes has put some good work together the past few weeks. He’s not getting heaps of easy ball, but his contest work is really strong, finishing up with nine tackles and nine contested possessions. Really brought his weapon of 'run and jump' at the ball on Saturday.
Matthew Allison
Four disposals, two marks, one tackle
Matthew played backline this week as we were a bit short on key defenders. His stats were low, but watching back the tape he had a really strong performance, gelled well with our team defence and had about five opportunities to intercept. Overall, it was a strong game. Really proud of his ability to adapt when he hasn’t sat in that role for a long time.
Ben Paton
24 disposals, 17 kicks, five tackles
Ben sat at half-back on Saturday and set us up really well behind the ball. He had four inside-50s and five possession gains ending up inside-50, so great to see him run a bit more freely on attack and take the game on. There were a couple of opportunities to be a bit more assertive on defence that we’ll keep working on., but overall he played a solid game.
Hugo Garcia
Three goals, 15 disposals, seven tackles
Hugo went into the game unwell but performed admirably. We put him forward in the last term where he ended up with four shots on goal. He showed his creativity in the forward-50, adding another string to his bow.
Tom Campbell
31 hitouts, 29 disposals, six tackles
Tom was best on ground by a ‘Flemington straight’ as he executed another consistent, four-quarter performance. He left nothing out there as he fought for hit-outs, contested possessions, ground balls and had an impressive eight tackles for the ruckman. Again, he got back to support strongly which was the focus against his opponent. Proud of his fight and leadership.
Oli Hotton
12 disposals, five kicks, one tackle
A quiet game for Oli as he’s still finding his groove as a high half forward. Ended up with a couple of centre bounces which we want to keep exposing him too.
Max Heath
One goal, five disposals, one tackle
Max copped a calf cork in the first quarter and struggled psychically but did well to stay out there and fight on mainly as a forward. He competed strongly all day.
Cooper Sharman
Three goals, 18 disposals, seven marks
A good game by Cooper, he kicked a clutch goal to help us in the last which he’s making a habit of but overall was able to have quite a few looks and competed strongly all day. He had a couple of opportunities in the fourth quarter he’d like to have capitalised on but overall performing strongly at the moment.
Liam O’Connell
Seven disposals, one mark, four tackles
Liam’s building a brand for himself with his ability to chase down his opponent and get back to support his team. Not too many stats out of Saturday, so we’ll be looking for ways increase his offensive output which we’re really excited about. He’s building really nicely.
Max Hall
11 disposals, five marks, one tackle
It was Max’s second game playing our system. He got a bit more of the ball this week and gelled well with his teammates. It was a straight-line game this week with not as many opportunities to be involved as a high half-forward but his patterns were really pleasing to see.
FOR THE ZEBRAS
Antony Seaton
11 disposals, two marks, two tackles
Anthony was strong down back as the second/third key defender. He put his head over the ball a few times and played our defensive system well. Connected nicely with Matthew Allison and Zaine Cordy.
Tom Blamires
Nine disposals, three marks, six tackles
Tom played on the wing this week showcasing his strong off ball running and ability to get back to support. He finished up with six intercept possessions and had a couple of shots on goal telling us he’s working both ways.
