Mattaes Phillipou's dazzling return to senior level has been capped off with a perfect 10 coaches' votes from Ross Lyon and John Longmire, with the 19-year-old midfielder featuring as one of six Saints to poll from Pride Game.
Phillipou's 26 disposals, 10 score involvements, five clearances and a goal were essential in the Saints' triumph over the top-flight Swans yesterday afternoon, with his deft proficiency by foot and extended time through the midfield marking his best game in Saints colours.
The No. 25 had previously spent the past five matches in the VFL refining his midfield craft under St Kilda's development team of Lenny Hayes, Jake Batchelor and Damian Carroll, coming off a 31-disposal outing against Geelong last weekend to earn his recall for Round 17.
Prime movers Liam Henry (four votes), Bradley Hill (three) and Jack Steele (one) were also recognised for their work on-ball, while the tireless efforts of Callum Wilkie (two) and Rowan Marshall (one) in their respective domains were also acknowledged; the latter again switching with Saints' coaches' votes leader Jack Sinclair to once again reclaim pole position.
The efforts of Swans Chad Warner (four), Isaac Heeney (three) and Ollie Florent (two) were also noted between Lyon and Longmire; Heeney now eight votes clear on top of this year's coaches' votes leaderboard.
