GOALS
Seagulls: McLaughlin 5, Sasalu, Polson, Ollington, Fordham, Ebinger, Colenso, Coleman
Zebras: Allison 5, Heath 2, Ross, Campbell
Seb Ross
21 disposals, 14 tackles, one goal
Great game by Seb and even better watching it back on tape. He played a selfless role in the second half which was to our benefit as he marshalled players well behind the ball. His follow-up around the ground was strong. Once again, we really loved his leadership out there.
Liam Stocker
25 disposals, eight marks, three tackles
Liam played as a high half-back this week, exploiting his weapon as he used his body aggressively to his advantage. His intercept and contest game were also strong, taking three contested marks which was great to see.
Isaac Keeler
16 disposals, eight marks, one tackle
All in all, a positive day for Isaac. He read defensive cues well and had decent reaction time throughout the game. There were a couple of aerial contests that need to get better, but overall an improvement week-on-week.
Zaine Cordy
12 disposals, three marks, three tackles
Zaine produced several strong aerial contests on Saturday as well as a prominent display of on-field leadership. A few moments where we’d like to tighten up his positioning and reaction time, but overall we loved his clear decision-making to help us take the ball forward.
Angus Hastie
22 disposals, eight marks, four tackles
An improved game for Angus this week which saw his GPS intensity fly through the roof, relative to his own performance. Whilst he may have started a little slow, he built himself into the game well. A good bounce back from last week.
Matthew Allison
Five goals, 19 disposals, two tackles
Matty displayed a strong performance this week as he fought to compete well ahead of the ball and provide options, whether it was a contest or as a lead-up forward. His defensive principals were strong as well which saw him score a nice goal from staying up and being aggressive on defence. A step in the right direction for him.
Tom Campbell
35 hitouts, 18 disposals, one goal
A 50/50 ruck split with Max again this week. Tom had some good follow-up moments around the ball and then once again was a great target going forward for us. He didn’t get too many 1v1s as a lot of packs formed in our forward-50, but he competed pretty strongly in the ruck battle against Downie.
Oli Hotton
26 disposals, five marks, five clearances
Oli had his best performance for the year looking comfortable in the midfield and working well with Seb Ross and Darby Hipwell in particular. He gave us some really good bounce in the last quarter, providing strong running and involvement in the contest.
Angus McLennan
14 disposals, seven marks, three tackles
Angus had a good game overall which saw his reaction time improve as well as his performance in the air. There were a couple of times he tried to take too much space or may have watched the ball for a little bit too long, but overall his ball use was great. A positive display of growth from Angus.
Max Heath
2 goals, 21 hitouts, 15 disposals
A good game by Max. He had three shots at goal, contested well in the ruck, and followed up strongly. A great step forward for him.
Liam O’Connell
14 disposals, six marks, three tackles
Saturday was the best game Liam’s played in these colours. Some of his defensive efforts would have been unbelievable at AFL level. His understanding of reading and actioning cues is evolving well. He was strong in the contest and had a shot at goal from defence pressing forward. Really proud of his growth.
FOR THE ZEBRAS
Darby Hipwell
28 touches, 10 clearances, seven tackles
Darby had a great opportunity as the starting midfielder his week. He produced 15 contested marks and had nine groundballs. He was a strong force all day, took us forward and played to the level that we know he can. Expecting to see that standard from him on-going.
