Mason Wood will remain a Saint, penning a three-year contract extension to keep the valued wingman in tricolours until at least the end of 2027.
Instrumental in St Kilda’s string of victories in the backend of the season, the 30-year-old continued his strong form after returning to the senior side following a broken collarbone in Round 2.
Arriving at Moorabbin via the 2021 trade period, the former Roo reignited his career in the red, white and black, marked by breakout 2023 campaign which saw him transform into one of the most effective and team-oriented wingmen in the league.
Wood’s influence on the team extends beyond the field, with his willingness to mentor young players and assist in their professional development paying off in a big way through the expedited growth of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Cooper Sharman, among others.
“Mason is a highly valued contributor to our footy club, both on and off the field,” EGM Football David Misson said.
“From the wing to the forward line, his ability to provide impact and influence is an important asset for us.
Wood said he was excited to sign-on with St Kilda, driven by the potential he believes the group possesses.
“It’s a great feeling to remain a Saint. The club gave me an opportunity four years ago and I’ve cherished every moment since,” Wood said.
“I’m excited to build on the momentum we’ve gathered in the back half of the season and do everything I can to set us up for season 2025 and beyond.”
