Brendon Goddard will take the reins of Sandringham Football Club in 2025, today confirmed as VFL Senior Coach, in tandem with a development coaching role at St Kilda.
Goddard, who played 334 AFL games across his career at St Kilda and Essendon, transitions into the role after two years in the Saints’ coaching ranks.
“We’re really pleased to have Brendon locked in to coach our VFL team next year,” EGM Football David Misson said.
“Brendon has really gone from strength to strength in his coaching since returning to the Saints and we see a long career in this space ahead of him.
“Coaching your own team puts challenges in front of you that you don’t face in a line coaching position, so by jumping into the VFL space, we believe it will really aid Brendon’s development.
“We want to see both our AFL and VFL programs thriving, and we believe this appointment takes positive steps towards that happening.”
Goddard said he was excited to take on the role.
“I’m really looking forward to helping our players continue their development and learning, all while creating a cohesive environment for the Sandringham players to also show their skills.
“Sandringham is a proud club that has had ties with the Saints across the generations and I’m proud to be playing my part in continuing that.”
Sandringham Football Club CEO Marcus Ashcroft said he was pleased to welcome Goddard into the role.
“Brendon has a wealth of knowledge to share and we look forward to him working with our players and staff in season 2025.”
The full St Kilda football department line-up will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
