J’Noemi Anderson has ended her third season in red, white and black on a high note, claiming the Telstra AFLW Rising Star nomination for Week 10.
Playing predominantly on-ball during yesterday’s match against Brisbane in the closing day of AFLW Indigenous Round, the 19-year-old accrued an eye-catching 11 disposals, eight tackles and four clearances to go alongside her siren-to-siren pressure and physicality.
Sunday’s performance is the latest in a string of increasingly influential performances for Anderson, who has continued to show glimpses of her natural flair and aggression between her roles deep in attack and as a contested midfield bull.
Hailing from Warumungu Country in the Northern Territory, Anderson is St Kilda’s sixth Rising Star nominee in the women’s competition.
The pick No. 16 from the 2022 (Season 7) AFLW Draft first etched her name into the Saints’ history books as the club’s inaugural First Nations player in the AFLW, inheriting the esteemed No. 7 guernsey from the great Nicky Winmar himself upon her arrival to RSEA Park.
Since making her debut in Round 5, 2022 (Season 7), Anderson — who signed a two-year contract extension at the end of last season — has represented St Kilda in 19 matches to-date.
