St Kilda Football Club extends its congratulations to Moorabbin Airport Saints Academy graduate Lennox Hofmann, who was drafted to Geelong Cats at last night’s 2024 AFL Telstra Draft.
The Switzerland-born half-back was bid on by the Cats at pick No. 66, with the Saints electing not to match the bid after selecting James Barrat, Hugh Boxshall, Alex Dodson and Patrick Said with prior picks.
Hofmann was a member of the Moorabbin Airport Saints Academy for three seasons, working alongside coaches Nick Dal Santo and Brendon Goddard in his pursuit of an AFL career which came to fruition last night.
Offering players from multicultural and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds opportunities to progress their individual development and footballing ability, the Moorabbin Airport Saints Academy now produced eight players who have since been recruited to AFL clubs, including current Saints Mitch Owens, Marcus Windhager and Angus McLennan, who have now played a combined 107 games for the club.
2022 graduate Cameron Mackenzie has played 34 matches for Hawthorn to-date after being selected with pick No. 7 at that year’s draft, inaugural graduate Bigoa Nyuon represented Richmond and North Melbourne between 2020-2024, while former Saint Jack Peris made his senior debut for the club late last season.
After recovering from a shoulder injury in 2023, Hofmann represented Sandringham Dragons across 10 appearances this season just gone, along with three games for Vic Metro.
