South Australian ruckman Harry Boyd has completed St Kilda’s playing list for 2025, joining the club as part of the pre-season Supplemental Selection Period.
A decorated 26-year-old ruckman hailing most recently from Norwood in the SANFL, Boyd has accumulated a notable list of accolades across multiple state-league competitions in his hunt of an AFL dream.
Originally from Shepparton, Boyd was awarded the SANFL’s prestigious 2024 Magarey Medal alongside Sturt player Will Snelling after leading the Redlegs to another Grand Final appearance.
The ruckman also received the Shearman Medal (voted by SANFL coaches) and finished second in Norwood’s Best & Fairest Count amid a year that saw him average a staggering 42 hit-outs, 20 disposals and 10 clearances per game in 2024.
Boyd was invited to train with the Saints late last year following Brad Crouch’s retirement due to a degenerative knee issue, which opened up a spot on the club’s rookie list.
“We’re very pleased to officially welcome Harry to St Kilda,” EGM Football David Misson said.
“Harry comes to us equipped with an abundance of ruck talent, and most importantly a drive to succeed having plied his trade across the VFL and SANFL in his pursuit of an AFL dream.
“Alongside developing rucks Max Heath and Alex Dodson, we’re hopeful that Harry will be able to learn from one of the best rucks going around in Rowan Marshall as he looks to make the most of his opportunity at the highest level.”
