Spud’s Game is back for 2025 and this year the community has the opportunity to place their own stories front and centre on football’s biggest stage.

For the first time, an exclusive Spud’s Game guernsey will be commissioned for the marquee clash, which will take place at the MCG on Friday 9 May against Carlton in Round 9.

“We’re really excited to launch this special edition guernsey for a game that not only means so much to us as a club, but has really grown to mean so much to the broader community,” St Kilda Chief Executive Carl Dilena said.

“For four years now, we’ve championed Danny Frawley's legacy through this event and we’re proud to continue that, while also extending it to the community to tell their own stories.”

The design of the 2025 Spud’s Game guernsey will feature Danny Frawley’s name nestled among names contributed by the community. From today until 18 February, individuals have the opportunity to purchase a place on the guernsey in dedication of themselves or someone in their lives touched by mental health issues. Profits from the sale of the guernseys will help support programs run at the Danny Frawley Centre.

We know mental health issues don’t discriminate. One in two Australians will struggle with their mental health in their lifetime, and the impact on families and communities is far-reaching.

“Being able to provide a platform for people to share their stories is a privilege we don’t take lightly and is something we look forward to expanding on as we get closer to the game.”

Head of Community and Operations at the Danny Frawley Centre, Chelsea Frawley, said the funds raised through the guernsey dedications will have real-world impact on the mental health outcomes of the community.

“Every year, the impact of the money raised through Spud’s Game has allowed us to expand our program delivery in the community,” Frawley said.

We’re committed to equipping people with the skills they need to tackle life’s ups and downs, but we’re still only just beginning. With increased funding, we can grow our program fulfilment and reach more people and communities, but we need help to make that a reality.

“Purchasing a place on this year’s Spud’s Game guernsey is the perfect way to not only support an incredibly worthwhile cause but share the story of a loved one.

“Through the first four years of Spud’s Game we’ve shared Dad’s story, now we want to hear yours.”
