Jack Steele will captain St Kilda for a fifth straight year, as the club confirms its five-man leadership group for the 2025 season.

Steele first joined the Saints’ leadership group in 2021, the same year the powerful midfielder claimed his second consecutive All-Australian blazer and Trevor Barker Award.

This season marks Steele’s fourth year as sole captain, with the 28-year-old once again set to be supported by St Kilda’s most recent All-Australian and Best & Fairest winner, Callum Wilkie, who will resuming the position of Vice Captain, as well as dual All-Australian Jack Sinclair.

Mason Wood and Dan Butler complete the leadership group, with the senior duo stepping into official leadership roles at the club for the first time.

“It’s an honour to be part of such a talented leadership group and lead this team again in 2025,” Steele said.

“Captaining this club isn’t something I take lightly and being voted into the role by my teammates continues to humble me.

“We’ve had a really strong pre-season with a lot of growth across the group and I can’t wait to start the season and hopefully build on the momentum we created at the end of last year.”

St Kilda’s leadership group was voted on by the playing group before being endorsed by the club’s coaching panel and Board.

“We’re really proud to see Jack (Steele), Cal and Jack (Sinclair) re-elected into official leadership positions again this year, aptly joined by Mason and Dan who have been influential leaders in their own right for many years,” EGM of Football David Misson said.

“We have a very young list, so it’s integral our more experienced leaders really encourage voices and opinions from right across the group, which we’ve seen all five of these players do regularly.

“We congratulate them on their selection and have full confidence that they will set the standards and drive success for our team this season.”
