Jack Higgins and Hunter Clark have deepened their ties to the Saints, extending their contracts until the end of 2029 and 2027, respectively.
Higgins has gone from strength to strength since joining St Kilda ahead of the 2021 season, playing almost the maximum number of games while establishing himself as one of the club’s most dangerous players around goal.
A lifelong Saints fan, Higgins was the club’s leading goal-kicker in 2023 and 2024 and is looking to have an even greater impact in 2025.
“I’m so happy here, and I couldn’t be prouder to put pen to paper on an extension,” Higgins said.
“I’m really enjoying my footy and doing my best not only to have an impact on the scoreboard but also to help my teammates.
“Even though I’m only 25, I’m one of the older guys in our forward line these days, so I’m focused on becoming more of a leader and helping guys like Max Hall and Lance Collard hone their skills.”
Clark, who has shown incredible resilience throughout his career so far, said he was looking forward to a big 2025.
“The club has shown a lot of faith in me since the minute I walked in the door as a draftee, and there’s nothing I want more than to repay it,” Clark said.
“Similar to Higgo, I’m 25 now and as excited and driven as I’ve ever been to see this group succeed.
Executive General Manager of Football David Misson said the pair’s signings were important to the dynamic of the playing list.
“Jack and Hunter are both very popular figures at our footy club with a clear ambition to see us improve both on and off the field,” Misson said.
“Their signatures, along with the recent signings of Angus, Hugo and Max (King), really exemplify a collective commitment to what we’re trying to achieve together.”
The Saints now turn their attention to their Round 1 opponent, the Adelaide Crows.
