The skilful half-back has played 22 matches since debuting in round seven last year and averaged 15 disposals per outing in 2014.

Following his re-signing, the 21-year-old was bullish about the future of St Kilda Football Club, and said he can’t wait to help build a strong and successful future alongside the raft of youngsters who are also making their way.“It’s a great time to be at St Kilda,” Webster told SAINTS.com.au.
“We obviously have a young group coming through and to sign on until the end of 2017 feels really good.
“There is a great vibe amongst the young guys at the club at the moment. On the field we are hard on each other but also support each other. Off the field we are really good mates and enjoy each other’s company – it’s a good mix.”

A foot injury sustained against Richmond in round 15 put an early end to Webster’s 2014 campaign, but he’s confident that a big pre-season and renewed optimism will have St Kilda well-placed to make significant improvements next year.“I need to get my foot right in the off-season, get my fitness up, work hard in the gym, and prepare as well as I can for 2015,” he said.
“I have no doubt that we can climb back up the ladder sooner rather than later as the young players continue to develop and learn.”

And it’s these up and coming Saints that must assume more responsibility, according Webster.“At training it is the first to four year players that need to lift and show leadership, because before long we will be the official leaders of the club. We're the core group coming through,” he said.
“Even if we don’t have official leadership group positions, the entire club benefits if we all take it upon ourselves to set the example… That will certainly be one of my aims.”
Head of Football Chris Pelchen said Webster's clean skills, coupled with his versatility, made him an exciting prospect.
"Jimmy has developed into an important member of the Saints defensive group with his ability to deliver the ball efficiently by both hand and foot," Pelchen told SAINTS.com.au.
"His capacity to play on taller and shorter opponents adds extra flexibility to the team and we look forward to him also spending time through the midfield in coming years."
Webster was taken by the Saints with selection No. 42 in the 2011 National Draft from Glenorchy in Tasmania.
His re-signing follows Luke Dunstan, Josh Saunders, Jack Newnes, Lewis Pierce and Nathan Wright’s last week.
