Callum Wilkie’s rapid rise has been rewarded with a new two-year deal at St Kilda.
The emerging defender has played all four matches this season after being selected in the 2018 AFL Rookie Draft.
The 23-year-old has impressed with his composure and intercept marking, and was one of the Saints’ best in their win over Hawthorn in Round 4.

“Since Callum has arrived at Moorabbin, we have all been really impressed with his attitude, the way he has transitioned into life as an AFL footballer and more recently his on-field performances” Saints List Manager James Gallagher said.
“He’s smart and courageous, and as we saw on the weekend, isn’t afraid to attack the ball in the air.
“We look forward to seeing him develop over the years to come.”

Wilkie said he was thrilled to put pen to paper.
“It’s been a whirlwind since the draft and I’m excited to secure my future here,” he said.
“It’s been great to start repaying the faith the club has shown in me early in the season.
“I know I have to keep working hard and keep improving to help the team get where it wants to be.”

The former accountant was selected at No.3 in the Rookie Draft after winning the best and fairest for SANFL premiers North Adelaide in 2018.
