St Kilda has used its first-round selection to snare Calder Cannons captain, Georgia Patrikios, at the 2019 AFLW Draft.
The 18-year-old makes history by becoming the first female Saint to be drafted to the club, as the red, white and black takes the next step towards its inaugural year in the AFLW.
Patrikios was selected with pick No. 3 in the Vic Metro selection (pick No. 5 overall), with the Pascoe Vale product set to join talented youngsters Olivia Vesely, Ali Brown and Molly McDonald in Season 2020.
Boasting great composure, a strong burst of speed and an impressive sidestep, the elite young talent will have an immediate impact in the red, white and black.
The skilful on-baller enjoyed a terrific 2019 campaign representing Vic Metro and the Calder Cannons, adding to her already decorated football career.
Patrikios was crowned the MVP of the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships back in July, with her agility and clean disposal allowing Vic Metro to go through the tournament undefeated.
The composed inside mid averaged 23 disposals, three clearances and five tackles during the carnival.
Her prowess through the midfield was also on full display for the Calder Cannons, seeing her named among the best on ground six out of a possible nine times.
Premiership glory would have added to her glittering 2019, but even despite another best-on-ground performance from Patrikios, the Cannons fell short in the big dance.
Patrikios has represented the side a record 22 times across three seasons, first lining up in the NAB League as a 16-year-old.
She also represented Essendon’s VFLW side earlier this year, averaging 19 disposals and five tackles from her four outings.
St Kilda’s AFLW pre-season will kick off in late November.
