Charles Beaton grew up with his twin brother Lachlan in the small country town of Casterton in Western Victoria.
It wasn’t until the age of 27 that Lachlan revealed his homosexuality to his twin brother and best friend, in a moment that changed Charles Beaton’s life.
Since that day, Beaton has dedicated himself wholly to raising awareness of the daily plights faced by the LGBTIQ community; a community still rife with anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide.
As co-founder of ‘Gay? That’s ok!’, Beaton has been instrumental in arranging football games dedicated to celebrating Pride, and reinforcing football as a place where everyone can feel welcomed.
