St Kilda’s new VFL Women’s team the Southern Saints will start to take shape next month with a
Players wanting to test themselves against Victoria’s in the 2018 VFL Women’s competition will have a chance to impress selectors at a special try-out on November 19.
The club is seeking expressions of interest from talented players keen on trying out, particularly those who reside in Bayside Melbourne.

The Southern Saints will be the result of a partnership between St Kilda and the Frankston Football Club, as the club looks to build towards entry into the AFL Women’s Competition in 2020.
Head of Women’s Elite Pathway Peta Searle said the team would become the destination for female talent in the Bayside region.
“When the Southern Saints take the field, it will be a landmark moment for St Kilda Football Club,” Searle told saints.com.au.
“As we head towards our entry into the AFLW competition in 2020, this is the first significant step on an exciting journey.

Searle is a trailblazer in the AFL after she became the first female to coach at the highest level when she began as a development coach at Linen House Centre in 2014.
