After 13 rounds, the unassuming speedster sits inside the top dozen in both the Herald Sun and The Age player of the year prizes.

On the back of his best on ground, three-vote effort against Carlton prior to the bye, the two-time Trevor Barker Award winner sits on 11 votes in the Herald Sun, behind runaway Geelong superstar pair Patrick Dangerfield (19 votes) and Joel Selwood (17 votes).

In The Age, where the voting system ranges anywhere between six and ten votes depending on the quality of the performance, Steven sits inside the top-ten on 46 votes, behind Dangerfield and Sydney gun Dan Hannebery.

While in the AFL Coaches Association champion player of the year award, Steven has acquired 34 votes from 12 games. The 26-year-old sits narrowly outside the top-ten bracket, although he has acquired votes in seven games thus far, including a perfect ten against Carlton in Round 12.

Having never previously been named an All Australian, Steven is firmly in the discussion at the halfway point. He is averaging 28. 8 possessions (No. 10 in AFL), 12.2 contested possessions (No. 17), 6.3 tackles, 5.9 clearances (No. 13), 5.3 inside 50s, 24.1 pressure acts (No. 3) and 409.7 metres gained.
