First year player Ahmed Saad has been crowned St Kilda’s Most Promising Player in 2012.

The goalsneak joined the Saints in a 2011 trade deal with fellow small-forward Terry Milera and has since played 16 games in the red, white and black this year.

“I had no idea (I would win), but definitely it’s an honour to win it,” he told.

“It’s good, it just shows that I’ve got a long way to go and they can see a lot of potential in me and I definitely want to work hard and train hard and hopefully deliver that potential in the coming years.”

Upon receiving the award, the 22-year-old promised supporters he would surprise them next year with his left foot kicking talents, among other emerging skills.

“That was my weakness and it still is but I can definitely use it now so should be good.”

“(They can expect) a lot of improvement, a lot more forward pressure, (and) I’ll work on my tackling over the summer, try to make sure they stick and just do my role for the team.”
