St Kilda Football Club would like to thank outgoing cheer squad president, Jenny Loring for her support over the past 16 years.

Jenny has been a long-time supporter of the club, however after joining the cheer squad in 2001 she has been an active and generous supporter.

Reflecting on her time in the cheer squad, though she admits the time commitment was huge, Jenny doesn’t regret a second.

“It takes up more time than people might realise,” Jenny said.

“Banners can take up to three hours to make, we arrive at the game hours before to set up and there’s a lot of behind the scenes work in the off season to make sure we’re ready to go.

“That being said, I’ve loved my time as part of a proud and passionate group of supporters.

“The term strength through loyalty means so much to Saints members and I’ve seen it in action.

“My best memories would be of our grand final appearances. Despite the results, it allowed me to meet so many fabulous people and I will carry those memories for life.”

When asked who her favourite player has been throughout her tenure Jenny had quite the list.

“Robert Harvey would be up there because, well, he’s Robert Harvey. He means so much to all Saints members.

“Justin Peckett was always a favourite of mine, while Milney had a great rapport with the cheer squad which we loved.”

Her involvement in the cheer squad has also been a family affair, allowing her quality time with her daughter, Rebecca Williams.

“I brought Bec on board with me when she was just 14, so she’s grown up in the cheer squad.

“To see her passion grow throughout her teenage years into adulthood has meant so much to me,” Jenny said.

“I’ve also had great support through fellow cheer squad members, particularly Debbie Palmer, Mark Woods and Sarah Medcraft. Bernie and Barry have also been great, as have all the committee members I have worked with during my time.

“I am very thankful for their continued friendship and support.”

St Kilda Football Club thanks Jenny for her help over the years and wishes her and her family all the best for the future.
